Ethyl 3,4-diaminobenzoate is a molecule that belongs to the family of aldehydes. It has been synthesized by hydrolysis of naphthalene using hydrogen chloride in the presence of ethyl acetate and water. The synthesis process was monitored by gravimetric analysis and X-ray diffraction studies. The product was purified by recrystallization from ethanol before being characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure has revealed two different conformations for the molecule, which are related to its mesoporous nature. The compound is an inhibitor for enzymes that control glycolysis and hydrogen bond formation, such as ferroptosis.
