Descrizione:1-Ethyl-4-piperidone is a piperidone that has nicotinic acetylcholine activity. It is a competitive antagonist of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) and β-unsaturated ketones. 1-Ethyl-4-piperidone has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in an animal model and to be active against tuberculosis in cell cultures. This drug has also been shown to have an affinity for nAChRs, which may be due to its ability to bind with the mycolic acid component of the receptor protein. 1-Ethyl-4-piperidone has been found in studies on human breast cancer cells lines, where it was observed to inhibit the growth of these cells.
