Descrizione:2-Ethyl-6-methylphenol is a high molecular weight, synthetic compound that is used as a fungicide. It has been shown to cause damage to plants by inhibiting the oxidative transfer of electrons from one molecule to another. 2-Ethyl-6-methylphenol has also been shown to be carcinogenic in animals and humans. This compound is metabolized by ammonolysis and alkylation reactions, forming the corresponding amine and dialdehyde metabolites. The phenolic ring undergoes oxidative polymerization reactions with acrylic acid, which forms carbonyl derivatives such as methylacrylic acid. 2-Ethyl-6-methylphenol has a molecular weight of 228.2 g/mol.
