Descrizione:6-ethoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine is a compound that belongs to the class of antibacterial agents. It has been shown to be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. 6-ethoxy-1,3-benzothiazol-2-amine inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme DNA gyrase, thereby preventing the unwinding of DNA strands and transcription. The molecule has also been shown to have no effect on mouse tumor cells in vitro. The mechanism of action for this compound is not known, but it could be due to its ability to bind with methylene groups in proteins or its ability to prevent the formation of an active methylene group during electropolymerization.
