Enoxacin is a synthetic antibiotic that is active against Gram-negative bacteria. It has minimal toxicity in humans and is widely used as an antimicrobial agent. Enoxacin has been shown to be effective against tissue infections, such as those caused by Staphylococcus aureus. This drug also interacts with other drugs, such as benzalkonium chloride, which can lead to resistant mutants. The rate constant of enoxacin has been measured using human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and the fluorescence probe NBD-1.
