Descrizione:4-Fluoromandelic acid is a chiral, catalytic reducing agent that is used for the synthesis of optically pure alcohols. It has been immobilized on silica gel and successfully recycled up to 30 times. 4-Fluoromandelic acid is also used for the reduction of esters or transesterification reactions in organic chemistry. In addition, it can be used to reduce other amides, nitriles, and ketones. The reaction time can be controlled by alkali metal concentration and temperature. 4-Fluoromandelic acid is also an enantiomer of mandelonitrile, which can be detected by optical rotation. The crystalline form of 4-fluoromandelic acid can be obtained by evaporating off the solvent in a vacuum oven at 170°C.
