Descrizione:1-(4-Fluorobenzyl)-5-oxoproline is a metabolite of 4-fluorophenylalanine. It has been found to be an important biomarker for the diagnosis of ovarian cancer and other types of cancer. It has also been used as a marker for metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, fatty acid oxidation disorders, and liver injury. 1-(4-Fluorobenzyl)-5-oxoproline can be detected in the blood plasma or serum by mass spectrometry using a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry technique. The most common method for sample preparation is introducing the analyte into an organic solvent and then removing it from the solution with solid phase extraction. Diagnostic techniques such as gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS) can also be used to detect this metabolite in urine samples.
