Descrizione:Ferrioxamine E is a nitrogen-containing compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial enzymes. Ferrioxamine E inhibits bacterial growth by binding to enzyme substrates, such as ferric iron, and preventing their reaction with other enzymes. Ferrioxamine E also binds to histidine, which can be used as an indicator of its concentration in solution. Ferrioxamine E is used in the treatment of bowel disease and inflammatory bowel disease. This drug is effective at inhibiting the production of fatty acids and has been shown to bind to iron molecules, which are necessary for bacterial growth. The optimum concentration of ferrioxamine E varies from organism to organism; however, it has been found that concentrations greater than 10 mM will inhibit the growth of Coli K-12.
