Fensulfothion oxon is a pesticide that is applied to the soil or foliage of crops. It is used as a nematocide and insecticide for control of soil-dwelling and foliar pests. Fensulfothion oxon has been shown to be effective against nematodes, including root knot, cyst, and reniform nematodes. Fensulfothion oxon is not active against insects with exoskeletons such as beetles or cockroaches. Fensulfothion oxon can be analyzed using photometric techniques with an ultra high-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) system. This technique can also be used to detect carbofuran residues in foods, which are related to poisoning caused by ingestion of this chemical.
Fensulfothion oxon can also be analyzed using chromatographic techniques with a gas chromatograph (GC). GC analysis can detect sulphoxides such as methylsulphinylm
