Descrizione:4-Fluoro-thiobenzamide is a hydrophobic drug that inhibits the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate. It is used as a research tool to study the inhibition of cholesterol synthesis and hyperglycemia. 4-Fluoro-thiobenzamide is selective for HMG-CoA reductase, with low potency against amines and other ligands. The trisubstituted structure of this compound affords it greater stability in high concentrations. This drug has been shown to be effective in activating fatty acid oxidation in mice and rats, which may be due to inhibition of fatty acid synthase.
