2-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)aniline is a fluorine-containing oxidant that is synthesized from the nature synthons of 2-fluoroaniline and trifluoroacetic acid. It has an electronegative nature, which allows it to be used as a synthon for other fluorine containing molecules. 2-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)aniline has been shown to inhibit the production of anilines by catalyzing the reaction with hydrogen peroxide. This compound also inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to the amino group in protein chains, inhibiting the rate of enzyme catalysis.
