It inhibits the enzyme reductase by binding to the active site and hindering the formation of a hydrogen bond. 4-Fluoro-a-(2-methyl-1-oxopropyl)-g-oxo-N,b-diphenylbenzene butaneamide has been shown to inhibit chain elongation in the biosynthesis of fatty acids by inhibiting enzymes that catalyze reactions in fatty acid synthesis.
