Descrizione

Faropenem is a cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell lysis. It binds to the penicillin-binding protein, which prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Faropenem has a chemical stability similar to other oral cephalosporins, but it has not been shown to be effective against resistant mutants.
