It is an additive to undecane and other solvents, which are typically used for pest control because they are not toxic. 4FDMB has been shown to be an effective larvicide when combined with tannins, hatchability, and voltammetry. 4FDMB also has anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to be effective against clinical development of cancer cells. The gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis of the compound shows that it also contains linolenic acid.
