Descrizione:2-Fluoro-1,4-benzoquinone (2FBQ) is a fluoroquinolone that inhibits the multidrug efflux pump in bacteria. It binds to the hydroxyl group of 2FBQ and prevents this pump from functioning properly. 2FBQ has shown antimicrobial activity against coliforms and other gram-negative organisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae, Proteus vulgaris, and Salmonella enterica. 2FBQ inhibits bacterial growth by preventing the uptake of endogenous substances like glucose and glycogen by the cell membrane. 2FBQ also has been shown to have cardiac effects in rats when administered intravenously or intraperitoneally.
