Descrizione:(17alpha)-6-Fluorocholest-5-en-3-ol is a fluorinated cholesterol derivative that inhibits the cholesterol acyltransferase enzyme, which is responsible for the enzymatic esterification of cholesterol to form cholesteryl esters. This product has been shown to inhibit cellular growth and may be useful in treating bacterial infections. (17alpha)-6-Fluorocholest-5-en-3-ol has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the hmg coa reductase enzyme, which is involved in cholesterol metabolism. This product has been found to increase membrane fluidity and promote cell growth. It also prevents the formation of foam cells by inhibiting cholesterol uptake from peripheral tissues into macrophages.
