Descrizione:2-Propenoic acid is a caffeic acid derivative that has been shown to have DNA binding and antioxidant properties. It has been found to be an active inhibitor of the transcription of response elements in the squamous cell carcinoma cell line, with a potency similar to that of coumarin derivatives. 2-Propenoic acid also has antiinflammatory activity and was found to be cytotoxic to squamous cells in culture. This compound is structurally related to propolis and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which are both used as therapeutic agents for inflammation and pain relief.
