Garcinone D is an extract from Garcinia mangostana L. that has antioxidative properties. It inhibits the activity of creatine kinase and prevents the conversion of 2-amino-isobutyric acid to succinic acid, which can lead to cancer. Garcinone D also has shown antiproliferative effects in prostate cancer cells and murine hepatoma cells, as well as cytotoxic effects against cancer cells in cell culture. The pharmacokinetic properties of Garcinone D are not known at this time.
