Descrizione:Geranyl acetate is a natural compound that belongs to the family of indole alkaloids. It is found in the essential oils of plants such as lavender and cedarwood, and has been shown to have anti-fungal properties in vitro. Geranyl acetate inhibits the growth of Candida glabrata and squamous cells by interfering with the cell membrane, leading to leakage of intracellular components and death. This compound has a reaction mechanism similar to eugenol, which is also an anti-fungal agent. Geranyl acetate binds to alcohol dehydrogenase in the cell wall, inhibiting its function and thereby preventing synthesis of ATP.
