Descrizione

Gelsemicine is a monoterpenoid indole alkaloid that can be found in the Chinese herb Gelsemium elegans. It is used as a health care product for the treatment of bone cancer, and has been shown to have a depressant effect on the central nervous system. Gelsemicine binds to DNA polymerase, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. This drug has been shown to be effective in detecting low concentrations of fetal DNA in maternal blood samples (1-2% of total DNA).
