4-(Hydroxymethyl)imidazole HCl is a proton agent that is used in cancer therapy. It is a chromophore that has been shown to be active against cancer cells in mice. 4-(Hydroxymethyl)imidazole HCl can be used as an anti-cancer drug and may also have synergistic effects with other drugs, such as ammonium nitrate. This compound is also important for the industrial production of glycinamide ribonucleotide and dibutyl maleate, which are both used in pharmaceuticals.
