The 2-hydroxy-4-methylpyrimidine molecule has four nitroso groups, which are substituted with methyl groups. X-ray crystallography studies have shown that the molecule can exist in two different forms: one with the methyl groups pointing "homotopically" towards each other and the other with them directed "heterotopically."
