Descrizione:4-(Hydroxymethyl)cyclohexanecarboxylic acid is an organic solvent that is also used as a precursor in the preparation of many polymers. It has been shown to selectively dehydrate hydroxyl groups, which are often found in ethers and polymers. This organic compound can be prepared by the stepwise addition of cyclohexanecarboxylic acid to 4-hydroxymethylcyclohexane, followed by selective dehydration of the hydroxyl group. The chemistry underlying this process is bimolecular.
