Descrizione:4-Heptanone is a chemical compound with the formula CH3CH2C6H5. It is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is used as a solvent and in the synthesis of other chemicals. 4-Heptanone has been shown to be toxic to cells in culture by inhibiting GABA synthesis, which leads to increased levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). The production of GABA can be inhibited by methyl ethyl ketones, such as 4-heptanone, through competitive inhibition. The analytical method for 4-heptanone involves gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC/FID) or high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC/UV). This compound has also been found to have antimicrobial properties against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi.
