Descrizione:1beta-Hydroxy vitamin D3 is a form of vitamin D that has been shown to have disease-modifying effects in animal models. It inhibits the proliferation of muscle cells and increases weight gain in animals with muscle wasting. 1beta-Hydroxy vitamin D3 also reduces the severity of symptoms and clinical response to secondary hyperparathyroidism in animals with chronic kidney disease. In addition, 1beta-Hydroxy vitamin D3 has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to bind magnesium ions, an essential cofactor for protein synthesis. Finally, 1beta-Hydroxy vitamin D3 has been shown to reduce oxidative stress by increasing proton efflux from muscle cells and decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential.
