• Descrizione: The drug tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that binds to the estrogen receptor and blocks transcription. Tamoxifen is used in the treatment of breast cancer, as well as other cancers where estrogens are involved in tumor formation. Tamoxifen has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial functions and induce endoxifen, which is an active metabolite with similar effects on the estrogen receptor. 4-Hydroxytamoxifen is a major metabolite of tamoxifen that has been found to bind DNA in a manner similar to tamoxifen. The analytical method for this drug uses colloidal gold particles coated with anti-4-hydroxytamoxifen antibodies.
