Descrizione:4-Hydroxy-7-methoxy-6-azaindole is a reagent that can be used to prepare 4,7-dimethoxy-6-(2,2,2-trichloroethyl)azaindole. This compound is crystallized from ether in the form of colorless needles. It has an unambiguous crystal structure and can be used for the demethylation of azaindoles. The transformation of 4-hydroxy-7-methoxy-6-(2,2,2-trichloroethyl)azaindole into 4,7-dimethoxyazaindole can be achieved through hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide in methanol. Crystallography studies have shown that this compound has selective hydrolytic activity towards the methoxy group at C4 and C5 positions on azaindoles.
