Descrizione:4-Hydroxybenzophenone is a phenolic compound that is a glycoside of benzoic acid. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the activity of nadph-cytochrome P450 reductase and to be potentially useful as a radiation-protective agent. 4-Hydroxybenzophenone has also been used as a skin cancer treatment in humans, although its mechanism of action is not fully understood. The compound binds to DNA and alters the expression of certain genes by affecting their transcription rate. This may lead to cell death or cell cycle arrest, depending on the type of cells targeted. 4-Hydroxyphenylacetic acid (4HPA) is another metabolite of 4-hydroxybenzophenone that has been shown to affect the body's metabolism by increasing proton production and reducing ATP synthesis.
