Heptamethyleneimine is an ethylen diamine derivative that can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation. It is an unsaturated alkyl amine with a nitrogen atom. It acts as a growth factor and has been shown to stimulate the central nervous system, which may be due to its ability to bind to magnetic resonance spectroscopies. Heptamethyleneimine has also been shown to be effective in treating diabetic neuropathy by acting as a nitro donor. Heptamethyleneimine can also chelate metal ions such as ferric ion and copper ion, which can result in oxidative stress and cytotoxicity.
