Descrizione:4-Hydroxytetrahydropyan is a fatty acid that is synthesized from the hydroxy group of 4-hydroxymandelic acid and the unsaturated ketone of 4-hydroxypentanedioic acid. It has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the liquid crystal composition, allylation, and reactions with hydroxyl groups. The potential use of this compound includes pharmaceutical preparations such as anti-depressants and anti-epileptic drugs. 4-Hydroxytetrahydropyan has also been used to synthesis other compounds with high pharmaceutical potentials such as tetrahydrofuran and 1,1′-diphenylethane.
