8-Hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde is a potential antitumor agent that exhibits proton and electron transfer reactions. It has been shown to inhibit the formation of tryptophan residues, which are key in the activation of carcinogens. This compound also acts as a corrosion inhibitor and can be used as an additive in dimethylformamide. The uv method has been used to determine the structure of 8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde. It was found to have a chromatographic retention time of 3.5 minutes, with an enhancement factor of 1.3, compared to the quinoline derivative.
