Hexafluoro-2-(p-tolyl)isopropanol is a hydrophobic monomer that is added to dental materials, such as methacrylates and polymers, for the purpose of improving their resistance to water. It has been found to be effective in photopolymerization experiments due to its lack of susceptibility to photodegradation by ultraviolet light.
