The nitrogen atoms are important for its activity as they can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules and help stabilize the protein's conformation. 2-Hydroxychalcone has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vitro and in vivo, with a particular effect on prostate cancer cells. It also inhibits tumor growth by reducing the production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) levels.
