It has been shown to inhibit leukemia cells in vitro. 1,7-Heptanediol has been shown to bind to the dna binding domains of transcription factors in vitro and may act as an anticancer agent by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins involved in biochemical pathways. 1,7-Heptanediol also inhibits tumor xenografts in vivo and induces apoptosis through hydrogen bond formation with DNA. It has been demonstrated to have detergent properties and can be used for biochemical reactions, such as the synthesis of chemical substances.
