3-Hydroxy-2,4,5-trifluorobenzoic acid is a decarboxylated form of 3-hydroxybenzoic acid. It is a synthetic compound that has the acidic properties of benzoic acid. The methyl ethyl group can be converted to the chloride in order to make it soluble in water. 3-Hydroxy-2,4,5-trifluorobenzoic acid is used as an antimicrobial agent and medicines for the treatment of bacterial infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis. In addition, this chemical is used as a reagent for organic synthesis reactions because it reacts with hydrogen fluoride to produce fluorine gas.
