Hexafluoro-Arsenate Lithium (1:1) is a compound with the formula Li[AsF6] that contains a hydroxyl group, an oxide and a fluoride. It is used to produce lithium metal, which has many applications in the production of batteries, nuclear power plants and other technologies. Hexafluoro-Arsenate Lithium (1:1) is stable to hydrolysis and can be stored in airtight containers at room temperature. The hexafluoro-arsenate ion can be reduced by sodium carbonate to give lithium metal. Hexafluoro-Arsenate Lithium (1:1) reacts with zirconium oxide to form a solid electrolyte that can be used as an electrode in batteries or as an electrolyte for hydrogen fluoride production. This compound also shows genotoxic activity and is photosensitive.
