Descrizione:2-Isothiocyanatobenzonitrile is an organosulfur compound that has bactericidal activity against Gram-positive bacteria. It can be used as a preservative in food and also as a disinfectant. 2-Isothiocyanatobenzonitrile reacts with chloride to form thiocyanate ions, which bind to the bacterial cell wall and inhibit its growth. The crystal structure of factor receptor was solved by X-ray crystallography, revealing that the binding site is located at the interface between the two domains.
