• Descrizione: 3-Iodo-L-thyronine is a thyroid hormone that is synthesized from thyroxine. It has a high maximal response in humans and it may be useful for the treatment of hypothyroidism. 3-Iodo-L-thyronine is not active against rat liver microsomes because it is a noncompetitive inhibitor. The clinical relevance of this drug needs to be evaluated before it can be used as a therapeutic agent, but its analytical methods are similar to those used for other thyroid hormones, such as T3, T4, and 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine. This molecule has been successfully detected in human serum and tissues by using an analytical method based on iodoacetic acid.
