Isopropylmagnesium bromide is an alkanoic acid that is used as a catalyst to produce organic compounds. This compound has potent antagonist activity that can be used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and metabolic disorders. Isopropylmagnesium bromide is also used in the synthesis of 5-membered heteroaryl compounds, which are often found in pharmaceuticals. It also produces light emission when reacted with hydrogen fluoride, sodium-dependent glucose, or magnesium salt. It is soluble in THF and can be used as a solid catalyst for palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions.
