1-Isopropylimidazole is an organic compound that is used for the preparation of other organic compounds. It is a member of the class of sulfoxides, which are compounds that contain a sulfonyl group (SO2) bonded to an oxygen atom. The reaction rate for 1-isopropylimidazole can be increased by using techniques such as primary amines, crystal x-ray diffraction, ring-opening, and inorganic halides. This chemical also reacts with bifunctional amines and aromatic heterocycles to form supramolecular structures.
