Descrizione:2-Iodosobenzoic acid is a cationic surfactant that is used in the synthesis of organic compounds. It has been shown to inhibit many reactions, including the oxidation of hydrocarbons and the chlorination of aromatic compounds.
2-Iodosobenzoic acid has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of oxone-mediated oxidation reactions. The addition of 2-iodosobenzoic acid in kinetic experiments with oxone and hydrochloric acid as reactants was found to decrease the rate of reaction by about 15%. The reaction products formed when 2-iodosobenzoic acid is added are protonated water molecules, which may have a stabilizing effect on the intermediate product, hydroxybenzene.
