Descrizione:4-Isopropylcatechol is a phenolic compound that is found in plants, animals, and human beings. It is involved in the synthesis of melanin and has been shown to inhibit the growth of mouse melanoma cells through oxidation reactions. This compound also stimulates tyrosinase activity, which may play a role in the development of leukoderma when combined with medications or other synthetic estrogens. 4-Isopropylcatechol can be synthesized by combining acetoacetic acid and catechol. It also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are thought to have an effect on skin inflammation.
