Isokurarinone is a quinolizidine alkaloid that can be found in the Chinese herb G. lucidum and the Japanese fruit R. crenata. Isokurarinone has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of glucose in cancer cells by inhibiting glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. It also has an effect on energy metabolism by increasing ATP synthesis, as well as inducing fatty acid oxidation and ketogenesis. These effects are thought to be due to the chlorogenic acids present in this compound.
