JAK Inhibitor I is a chemical compound that inhibits the Janus kinase enzyme. This enzyme is important for the signaling cascade in a variety of cells, including those infected by influenza virus and syncytial virus. It was originally developed as a potential treatment for radiation-induced cognitive dysfunction and metabolic disorders. The JAK inhibitor has shown promising results in mouse models of squamous cell carcinoma, but more research is needed to determine its effects on other types of cancer. JAK inhibitor I has also been shown to prevent tumor growth and metastasis in mice with chemically-induced cancers.
JAK Inhibitor I binds to the catalytic site of Janus Kinase, preventing it from phosphorylating tyrosine residues on cytoplasmic proteins involved in signal transduction pathways.
