Licoisoflavone A is a phenolic acid that belongs to the group of active flavonoids. It has been found in various plants, including the leaves and bark of lico trees. Licoisoflavone A has been shown to have antioxidant and anticancer activity. This compound inhibits tumor growth by activating detoxification enzymes and inhibiting fatty acid synthesis. Licoisoflavone A also is believed to inhibit cancer cells by binding to DNA, preventing transcription of genes that promote cell growth. This chemical is also capable of hydrogen-bonding with other molecules, allowing it to form complexes with proteins and other compounds.
