Loracarbef is a bicyclic heterocycle that is used as an antibiotic. It binds to the bacterial ribosome and inhibits protein synthesis, thereby inhibiting bacterial growth. Loracarbef has been shown to be effective against gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis. The drug is also active against some gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis. Loracarbef has shown activity against some strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and tetracycline-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Loracarbef can interact with other drugs in the body by competing for the same receptor site on the cell membrane.BR>BR>
