2-Methoxybenzoyl chloride is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit the activity of serine proteases. It has been found to bind to the adenosine A3 receptor and has been used as a tool in investigating the physiological effects of this receptor. 2-Methoxybenzoyl chloride has also been used as a lead compound in the development of estrogen receptor modulators. The drug inhibits cancer cell growth by inhibiting the expression of genes that promote cancer cell growth, including genes involved in angiogenesis and metastasis. The drug was shown to be effective against human liver carcinoma cells and human liver cells.
