Descrizione:Malononitrile is a nitro compound that is used to study the reaction mechanism of hydroxylation. It reacts with epidermal growth factor (EGF) to form a fluorescent adduct that can be detected by optical sensors. Malononitrile has been used as a fluorescence probe in vitro assays, which has led to the identification of the role of hydrogen bonding interactions in the reaction mechanism. The asymmetric synthesis of malononitrile has also been studied using x-ray diffraction data and it was found that the hydroxyl group plays an important role in determining the stereoselectivity of this reaction.
