This inhibition prevents the synthesis of DNA and RNA, leading to cell death. 1-Methyl-4-piperidone also inhibits the production of proton pumps that maintain acidity in cells, which prevents proliferation of carcinoma cells. The mechanism of action for 1-methyl 4 piperidone is similar to that of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFMS) and hydrochloric acid (HCl).
