Descrizione:2-(4-Methylphenyl)ethanol is a chemical compound that is used as a solvent. It is also used in the synthesis of 2-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, an intermediate in the synthesis of 4-methylbenzoic acid and 4-methylphenol. The toxicologic properties of 2-(4-methylphenyl)ethanol are not well known. However, it has been shown to inhibit tyrosinase activity and stimulate melanogenesis in rats. The chemical structure of 2-(4-methylphenyl)ethanol consists of two functional groups: a phenyl group with a methyl substitution and an alcohol group. The molecular formula for this compound is C9H12O2, which indicates that it contains one carbon atom, nine hydrogen atoms, one oxygen atom, and two hydrogens. This compound has been studied by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
